Meet the Team
Sarah Vokey, Founder
Sarah Vokey is the Founder of Sarah Vokey Law.
After articling at a large Bay Street firm, Sarah began her career at a boutique employment law and investigations firm. Before opening Sarah Vokey Law, she continued practicing in these areas for 15 years as a Co-Founder and Partner of a Toronto employment law and investigation firm. Sarah has grounded her employment law practice in her dedication to strategically advocating for her clients with strength and compassion, as well as conducting thorough workplace, sporting and academic integrity investigations. Sarah is often recognized by her clients as being a trusted partner and advisor. Her clients value her holistic, and client-centered approach to each and every matter as well as her ability to bring a calm, thoughtful and results-oriented approach to complex investigations and legal problems.
In 2018, after receiving the distinguished Association of Workplace Investigators Certificate (AWI-CH), Sarah focused a significant portion of her practice on workplace, sporting and academic integrity investigations. Sarah is often sought out by clients across various industries and settings to conduct impartial, complex, trauma-informed investigations across Canada which withstand legal scrutiny.
Sarah obtained her undergraduate honours degree in Psychology from Queen’s University, studied law at the University of Windsor and was called to the Bar in 2009. Sarah is an active member of the Association for Workplace Investigators and is appointed by the Office of the Sports Integrity Commissioner (OSIC) as an independent investigator and assessor with the Investigator Unit and Sports Environmental Assessment Unit. Sarah is also a guest lecturer at Humber College, teaching the investigations portion of the curriculum to graduate Human Resources students.
Sarah is a lawyer, investigator, cancer survivor and mother. When not practicing law or running her business, she can be found travelling the world, enjoying a concert, making memories with her family and friends, and volunteering with a number of cancer organizations.

Ayaz Huseynov, Firm Manager and Law Clerk
Ayaz Huseynov is the Firm Manager and Law Clerk at Sarah Vokey Law. He is passionate about the ways employment law and workplace investigations impact people’s everyday lives and businesses. Bringing years of experience supporting lawyers in employment law and investigations, Ayaz has proven success in being involved in all aspects of both simple and complex matters for the firm’s clients. Our clients have come to rely on Ayaz as an integral member of the team and often express their appreciation for Ayaz’s accurate, timely, and friendly support that puts their needs first.
Ayaz is able to offer services to our clients in French, Italian, Russian, Turkish, and Azerbaijani.
Outside of work, Ayaz enjoys travelling, exploring new spots, and producing music.

Julia Burke, Lawyer and Investigator
Julia is an Employment Lawyer and Investigator, and Counsel to Sarah Vokey Law.
Julia’s skillset includes advocating for employee and employer clients in all areas of employment law, including wrongful dismissal, human rights and accommodation, recruitment and hiring, employment standards, performance management, contracts, restrictive covenants, workplace policies, harassment, workplace safety, privacy, and related litigation. Julia also has significant workplace investigation experience, including allegations of harassment and violence, discrimination, academic research integrity, fraud, and other breaches of policy. She also conducts sports investigations.
Born and raised in Toronto, she is a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law. Having studied kinesiology and business in her undergraduate degree, Julia takes great pride in being able to draw on her science and business background, which allows her to take a detail-oriented yet pragmatic and business savvy approach in providing legal services to clients with long term solutions in mind.
Prior to working with the team at Sarah Vokey Law, Julia has practiced employment law for six years, previously working at a Toronto boutique employment law firm on Bay Street with Sarah and Ayaz, for approximately five years. She has assisted and opposed employers of all types and sizes. Having an employee and employer-side practice, Julia brings a balanced and well-informed approach to her clients. She has represented her clients at the Supreme Court of Canada, Ontario Court of Appeal, Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, and the Canada Industrial Relations Board.
Outside of work, you will find Julia playing sports, such as soccer, golf, and ping pong, playing fetch with her Nova Scotia Dulling Tolling Retriever, or searching for the next best restaurant. She recently discovered her love for scuba diving in Thailand and is eager for dive site recommendations.

Tara Seosankar, Lawyer and Investigator

Tova Bar-Dayan, Investigator
Tova is a Workplace Investigator and HR/LR Specialist.
Fueled by a passion for the human side of business, Tova’s experience and knowledge has been built over the course of a two- decade progressive career in Human Resources and Labour Relations roles in both public and private sectors and unionized and non-unionized environments. She has advised and strategically partnered with senior and executive management on workplace matters including workplace investigations, grievances, terminations, and recruitment.
In her work, Tova recognized a growing demand for trustworthy, professional, independent workplace investigations stemming from employers’ statutory obligations to investigate claims of workplace harassment, violence, or discrimination. Tova has investigated claims of harassment, sexual harassment, workplace bullying, racism/anti-black racism, theft, improper conduct, and more, including those which have the potential to result in litigation and/or reputational risk. This experience is bolstered by her status as a licensed private investigator (Ontario) and as a member of the Canadian Chapter of the Association of Workplace Investigators. Tova is also honoured to be recommended as a Trauma-Informed Workplace Investigator by The Canadian Institute of Workplace Bullying & Harassment Resources. Today, Tova takes great pride in conducting workplace investigations, assessments and restorations that are thorough, impartial, trauma-informed and, above all else, put people first, as reflected in her Workplace Fairness Analyst certification.
Tova holds a Master of Industrial Relations from Queen’s University, as well as a Bachelor of Human Resources Management with Honours from York University. She is a member of the Human Resources Professional Association of Ontario (holding a designation as a Certified Human Resources Leader), as well as a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario (ADRIO).
Tova has authored publications touching on various topics related to workplace investigations and conflict resolution including published articles for the Queen’s Industrial Relations Centre: “The Importance of a Trauma-Informed Approach to Workplace Investigations” and “Internal Workplace Investigations – Considerations and Strategies” and for the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario: “Life is not fair. So Why Should The Workplace Be?”. Tova can also be found frequently commenting on contemporary workplace matters on her socials.
In her free time, Tova enjoys cruising the high seas to experience different cultures and recipes.
